Agenda

An agenda like none you have ever seen.

For the past few years, we have been told in countless articles, webinars, and conference sessions why we all need to embrace and use Social Recruiting tactics, but very little has been written that digs deeper. Beyond the hype, what’s really working? Where’s the ROI?

We consulted with a number of the Talent Acquisition professionals who are most active in using Social Media to develop an event that goes beyond the hype and gives the recruiting community real info for us to use.

So here we are, with an agenda and format unlike any other you have seen at a recruiting event. The sessions will be light on long presentations, and heavy on facilitating dialogue and group participation. Each hour long session will only have a 15-20 minute presentation, the rest of the time will be used for Q&A and free-form discussions with the session leader.

Social Recruiting Summit 2009 is a hybrid between a conference and an unconference, which means part of the agenda will be developed by you, the attendees. The Summit is intended for a sophisticated group of recruiters, so we’ve purposely left some sessions open for the attendees to collectively program at the event, which will make it a more dynamic, vibrant learning environment.

And finally, we have one of the key purposes of the Summit. Over the course of the event, the participants will create a wiki with their takeaways on Social Media and recruiting; a living, breathing industry resource that will continue to grow as social recruiting methods evolve!

Here is the partial agenda, so make sure to check back often as additional sessions are added.

Welcome (back) to the community?

Amazingly, recruiters now have access to more candidates, in more places, and more often than ever before.  With such potential, is talking about transactional aspects of talent acquisition is as good as it gets?  Can we go beyond and (help) build community?  In this session, we’ll discuss our experiences, look at marketplace examples and discuss our role or next steps in changing the paradigm – including:

  • Haven’t we seen “social media” before?  Are we falling for the hype?
  • Is social media, for all its measurement, just more busy work?  Where is the value?
  • Should we care about “community”?  If so, how are we building it?
  • How are we shaping the discussion of social media within our organizations?

Online Employer Reputation & Social Recruiting

Social media is used everyday. It’s part of how we work, how we provide thought leadership, and how we judge the thought leadership of other companies. We EXPECT to be able to find honest and engaging information about what it is like to work for a company, and candidates RESPECT the companies that enable that process, distributing and sharing relevant content within the online channels where they already spend their time.  The information shared and the conversations that occur influence the reputation of a company and offer a deeper and real understanding of an organization as an employer – greatly affecting employer reputation and brand.

Welcome to the Social Recruiting Jungle!  In this session, learn how to audit, monitor, and measure how the online community of candidates, applicants, current employees and alumni view your organization and how to use that information to inform and transform your social recruiting strategy.

Come to hear real world stories of how companies are actively tracking, measuring and managing their reputation, personalizing the candidate experience, and enabling their employees to communicate with their company effectively and honestly, creating online windows into their company culture, and providing validation for candidates against what they may have heard the company, what their recruiters have told them, and various marketing messages. This validation leads to a feeling of trust and genuine interest in the company (engagement), credibility (feeling that working for this employer is a good career decision) and ultimately loyalty (retention).
